Good to know
Questions travelers often ask before a Mekong Delta tour.
One day or several days: which should I choose?
The 1 Day tour (My Tho & Ben Tre) shows you the classic Mekong: river boat, islands, sampan ride, honey tea and coconut candy. To see a real floating market you need at least 2 days, because Cai Rang market in Can Tho is busiest at sunrise. 3 and 4 days add Chau Doc, the Tra Su flooded forest and, on 4 days, the Ha Tien coast.
Can I see a floating market on the day trip?
Not a big one. Cai Rang floating market is about 3.5 hours from Saigon and trades mainly from 5:30 to 8:00 AM, so it is included on our 2, 3 and 4 day tours.
Where do the tours start?
Day trips pick you up at your hotel in District 1. Multi-day tours start from a meeting point in District 1 near Ben Thanh Market; we send you the exact address and time when you book. Staying elsewhere? Ask us.
What about hotel rooms on multi-day tours?
Prices are per person in a shared twin or double room. Traveling alone? A single room supplement applies (shown on each tour).
What should I bring?
Light clothes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable shoes or sandals, some cash for drinks and souvenirs, and your passport for hotel check-in on multi-day tours.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes, the Mekong is great for families. Life jackets are provided on all boats. See the children policy on each tour for prices.
